REMINDER: December and January monthly dues are due now! $5 for the month or $25 for the remainder of the year. The following girls still owe for December dues: Maija & Perla. The following girls owe for January dues: Jessica, Maija, Brianna, Brooklyn, Salem, Desiree & Perla.

Announcements

December was a busy month for everyone and troop 68 is no exception. We had a blast watching Hairspray the Musical and it was wonderful to meet the actors and talk to them about show business, acting and being on stage and of course getting autographs!!!

Later in the month, we put on our Santa hats and decked the halls of The Beautitudes Assisted Living Facility. The girls did a great job of serenading the residents with Christmas carols.

The girls have finished the first part of their Journey award – The Power of One, and we will now work on the Power of Team where the girls will learn what it takes to be a good leader and the importance of being a team player.

Court of Awards Ceremony, Cookie Training and Ice Cream Social!!!!

The Junior Troop 68 Court of Awards Ceremony will take place on Thursday, January 13th at 6pm. The girls will receive all badges and awards that they have been working on. There will be a cookie sales training and an ice cream social following the ceremony. Please bring your favorite ice cream toppings…we will provide the rest!

Parents must attend the cookie training in order for their daughter to participate in the 2011 GS Cookie Sales. No exceptions!

Totally Awesome Tuesday – Water Fun!

Totally Awesome Tuesday is a Girl Scouts council-wide event where 4th & 5th grade Girl Scouts throughout Phoenix will participate in fun activities and earn badges. This TAT event will take place at the Kiwanis Wave Pool on Tuesday, January 25th from 6:30-8:30pm. See flier for more details.

Laveen Community Parade

Troop 68 will be walking in the 2011 Laveen Community Parade on Saturday, February 5th at 11:00am. Details will be sent home soon.


Girl Scout Cookie Sales start Saturday, January 15th !!!!!

Start telling your family and friends to dust off their wallets and get their checkbooks ready. Cookies are $4.00 a box and we will be selling the following flavors: Thin Mints, Samoas, Trefoils, Tagalongs, Do-Si-Dos and Lemon Chalets. There will be lots of prizes given to girls based on their initial order, total sales and the top troop seller!

We have bumped up our troop goal to 8000 boxes. Yep, you heard me correctly…8000 boxes! That means that each girl will have an individual goal of 500 boxes. The work may be twice as hard, but the rewards will be twice as fun. This year, we will use our profits towards extreme activities such as rock climbing, kayaking and CAMPING!!! We will be working towards our ultimate goal of a weekend trip to a Girl Scouts camp in Tucson.
